Overview
Ajax R.B. Moreira is an econometrician at the Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada (IPEA), Brazil. His work focuses on Bayesian spatial econometrics, applied to Brazilian regional data. He co-developed the space-varying regression model framework (with Gamerman and Rue), applying it to land use dynamics in the Brazilian Amazon.
Key Contributions / Features
- Space-Varying Regression Model (with Gamerman and Rue, 2003): Co-developed the multivariate pairwise difference prior for spatially heterogeneous coefficients; compared three MCMC sampling schemes (single-site, block Normal-Gamma, analytical marginalisation); applied to a space-varying re-estimation of the Andersen-Granger-Reis Amazon land use VAR.
- Bayesian hybrid integration for econometric time series (with Gamerman, 2002): Normal approximation to the posterior for generalised linear mixed models with known covariance structure (Comm. Statist. Theory Meth. 31: 49–72).
- Adaptive resampling for cycle estimation (with Schmidt and Gamerman, 1999): SIR-based adaptive resampling scheme for periodic signal extraction.
