Overview
Andrew Mountford is a macroeconomist at Royal Holloway, University of London, working on fiscal policy, growth, and applied macroeconometrics. He is best known, with Harald Uhlig, for the sign-restriction approach to identifying the effects of fiscal policy shocks in VARs.

- Fiscal policy via sign restrictions — Mountford–Uhlig (2009): With Harald Uhlig, extended Uhlig's (2005) agnostic sign-restriction identification to multiple shocks, jointly identifying government-revenue and government-spending shocks (orthogonal to business-cycle and monetary shocks) and defining deficit-spending, deficit-financed-tax-cut, and balanced-budget experiments as their linear combinations; found deficit-financed tax cuts deliver the largest GDP multiplier (≈5 at five years).
