Carl Eckart

Carl Eckart (1902–1973) was an American physicist and geophysicist (University of Chicago; later Scripps Institution of Oceanography), known in physics for the Wigner-Eckart theorem and in statistics for the Eckart-Young low-rank matrix approximation theorem.
