Dutch statistician; founding editor of the Journal of Statistical Software; Distinguished Professor of Statistics at UCLA. Best known for foundational contributions to multivariate analysis, multidimensional scaling, and multilevel modeling; co-edited the Handbook of Multilevel Analysis (Springer, 2008).
