Overview
Na Yin is an economist working on Social Security disability insurance and retirement behavior. Her research uses life-cycle structural models to study DI application decisions, benefit elasticities, and the interaction between DI and old-age retirement programs at the margin between early retirement age and normal retirement age.
Key Contributions / Features
- Co-developed the Medicare-cash decomposition approach with Hugo Benítez-Silva, exploiting the ERA–NRA window to isolate pure cash-benefit effects on DI applications.
- Co-authored a life-cycle structural model (with HRS and SSA administrative data calibration) that produces age-specific elasticities of DI applications to benefit levels and award probabilities.
