Researcher affiliated with the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College, working on disability programs, retirement, and the health and economic circumstances of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) applicants.
Key Contributions / Features
- Trends in applicant health (Rutledge, Wu, Guan, and Trenkamp 2014): co-authored the SIPP–SSA linked analysis of ~3,250 SSDI/SSI applicants (1989–2013) that found essentially flat pre-application health trends — evidence that DI roll growth was not driven by a deteriorating applicant health pool, pointing instead to economic and demographic factors. See DI Growth Decomposition and Morbidity-Mortality Distinction.
