Overview
Rosa Gómez-Redondo is a professor of demography at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, UNED (National Distance Education University), Madrid. Her research focuses on Spanish mortality trends, the health and epidemiological transition, sex differentials in mortality, and longevity. She is the lead author of Gómez-Redondo and Boe (2005), a Pollard-decomposition study of Spain's e₀ gains across 1971–2001 published in Demographic Research as part of the 1st HMD Symposium Special Collection.

Applies the Pollard (1988) continuous decomposition to HMD data to show that Spain's 7.46-year e₀ gain (1971–2001) is dominated by elderly mortality improvement, while the 1980s decade exhibits a retrogression at young male ages (15–29) driven by a simultaneous epidemic of traffic accidents and HIV/AIDS transmitted via IV heroin use.
