Changshui Zhang

Overview

Changshui Zhang (born 1965) received his B.S. in Mathematics from Peking University (1986) and his Ph.D. from the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University (1992). He is a professor in the Department of Automation, Tsinghua University. His research interests include pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, image processing, and evolutionary computation. He is the corresponding author of the CEM paper.

Key Contributions / Features

• Zhang-Zhang-Yi (2004): Led the CEM algorithm project — competitive split/merge mechanism using local Kullback divergence to assign data-driven operation probabilities for finite mixture model estimation; CEM² sequential-update annihilation. See Zhang-Zhang-Yi (2004).
