Overview

Carlo G. Camarda is a researcher at INED (Institut National d'Études Démographiques), Paris. His work focuses on flexible nonparametric mortality modelling using P-splines, including the MortalitySmooth R package (for smoothing Poisson mortality counts) and the Sum of Smooth Exponentials (SSE) model for decomposing age-specific mortality into additive phase components. He developed the SSE model (Camarda, Eilers, and Gampe 2016) that underlies the Remund et al. (2018) hump decomposition method.
