David I. Auerbach is a health economist at RAND Corporation (Boston, Massachusetts) with expertise in health insurance costs, coverage, and the labor market effects of health reform. From 2003 to 2010 he was a principal analyst in the Health and Human Resources Division of the Congressional Budget Office, where he was a lead developer of CBO's health insurance coverage microsimulation model, which was used to analyze proposed reforms including the Affordable Care Act. He holds a doctorate in health policy (economics concentration) from Harvard University, a master's degree in technology and policy from MIT, and a master's degree in chemistry from UC Berkeley. He also serves as external adjunct faculty at Vanderbilt University's Center for Interdisciplinary Health Workforce Studies.
