Overview
Domantas Jasilionis is a demographer at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock, Germany. His research focuses on mortality at advanced ages, with particular attention to Eastern European mortality patterns and the consequences of political transition for population health. He is a co-author of Rau et al. (2006) and is associated with the Kannisto-Thatcher Database (KTDB) research program.

- Rau et al. (2006) — 10 Years After Kannisto: Co-author of the 10-year update of Kannisto et al. (1994), documenting continued and accelerating old-age mortality decline through 2000 in 27 developed countries. The paper documents the East German catch-up post-reunification as the single largest country-level improvement event in the dataset: women's death rates fell more than 3%/year in the 1980s→1990s comparison, consistent with rapid convergence in living standards and healthcare access.
