- Relative-rank SES methodology (Sanzenbacher et al. 2017): Lead author; developed an ordered probit reassignment procedure to assign individuals to relative education quartiles (holding each quartile at 25% within each birth cohort), isolating rising SES-mortality inequality from the compositional effect of rising educational attainment. Key finding: all SES quartiles gained LE 1979–2011; inequality is rising but Olshansky-style absolute LE declines are a composition artifact.
