Justin T. Denney is a sociologist at Rice University who studies social stratification and health, including mortality disparities by race, gender, and socioeconomic status. He co-authored the Pampel, Krueger, and Denney (2010) Annual Review of Sociology synthesis on socioeconomic disparities in health behaviors, contributing to the nine-mechanism taxonomy that organizes why low-SES individuals have persistently worse health behaviors across smoking, diet, exercise, and substance use.
