- Co-author of Stewart, Cutler, and Rosen (2009), NEJM 361(23): 2252–2260: life-table simulation forecasting 2005–2020 U.S. life expectancy and quality-adjusted life expectancy (QALE) under joint BMI and smoking trends. Key finding: BMI increase (−1.02 LE years) overwhelms smoking decline (+0.31) → net −0.71 LE years / −0.91 QALE years by 2020; ~45% projected obese; full elimination of both → +3.76 LE / +5.16 QALE years.
